My Role: Freelance Visual Designer
Travel back to the 1980s while enjoying tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) in a fun and safe environment where community is a vital aspect of the experience! As a freelance designer, the ADL approached me to create a branding identity that moved away from the stereotypical pink often associated with the "femme" brand. They desired a look reminiscent of with a cool, modern vibe. After two rounds of feedback, we successfully developed a brand featuring dice that appear to be dynamically moving toward the letter mark. Our goal was to avoid a design that felt overly feminine, which could alienate more masculine leaning people who identify outside the gender spectrum. We aimed for a nostalgic yet sophisticated aesthetic that would command respect in a male-dominated RPG landscape. To achieve this, we drew inspiration from classic Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy imagery, giving it a contemporary twist by incorporating a logo that feels futuristic by 1980s standards. We also utilized a diverse color palette to represent the organization's core values: green for inclusion, yellow for team collaboration, red for empowerment, and blue for roleplay. The dice serve as the centerpiece, reflecting the integral role of dice systems in most TTRPGs. Let's start rolling!
